THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT

SECOND COLLECTION today for Christmas flowers for our churches.

MONEY MATTERS. Many thanks to Bernard Guina who is now compiling our Quarterly Financial Returns. Many thanks to Martene Coe from whom Bernard takes over. Martene has done this job for many years and in that time the parish has gone from heavy debt (£150,000 in March 2009) we have nudged into the black. Such a remarkable turnaround is entirely due to the generosity of our parishioners, with notable help from our finely-tuned Gift Aid structure. I hope that parishioners will continue to be generous to your parish as we strive to serve you and there is always some expense or other to be met, the next being the rewiring, reordering, redecoration of St Thomas Aquinas Church, plus possible big repairs there – (have your seen those cracks?). Thank you for your ongoing generosity and support of our parish.

MAY THEY REST IN PEACE

SCHOOLS ADMISSIONS SEPTEMBER 2013
Diaries now ready. Yes, 2013! Looking ahead or what! If your child is to start Catholic Primary School then (even though they currently look far too young, please don’t be fooled) you will need to collect a 2012 diary. They are now ready for collection, ahead of schedule, from the Sacristy, complete with an explanatory letter. Please do not miss out. Also, current school year 5 children will need to collect a diary in support of applications for St Paul’s Secondary, September 2013.

APOSTLES CREED. Remember to pick up your Mass Card for the words of this Creed which we are using during Advent.

THE GIVING TREE has now appeared among us, a great way to include the less-well-off in your Christmas. How does it work?
~ take a tag from the tree
~ buy the present written thereon
~ wrap it up, with the tag attached
~ return it under the Giving Tree
~ Angela will distribute the gift to someone in need either locally or further afield
~ someone, somewhere is happy to have been remembered at Christmas
Thank You

If you were running a race and you passed the person in second place, what place would you be in now?
You would be in second … well, you passed the person in second place, not first !

When fish are in schools they sometimes take ‘debate’ !
