Newsletter: 4th March 2012

Midweek Mass Watch:
No Mass on Monday as Fr Michael is involved with interviews at St Thomas Aquinas School. Tuesday’s Mass is at Bishop Park School, at 11 am; all welcome. No Confessions on Saturday as Fr Michael is at Thornton with Bishop Peter and the Pastoral Area Councils. Otherwise, there are no changes to the schedule this week.

WELL DONE to all who were involved in the funeral Mass for Maggie Thomas last Monday at St Mary’s, Dunstable. It was a beautiful, moving celebration of the life of Maggie and came as a great comfort to her husband Dave, her parents Liam and Anne and her children Liam, Anne, Daniel, David, Cian and Fintan. It was quite extraordinary to have a Bletchley parish funeral in a church twenty miles away, complete with clergy, musicians, servers, congregation and school choir, but it all worked perfectly. Our thanks to Fr Kieran McGovern and the people of St Mary’s for allowing us to use their spacious church, which comfortably seats 800 people. Our own churches would never have accommodated the numbers who wanted to pay their respects to Maggie and support her family at this sad time. I asked Fr Kieran if we could take his church and move it to Bletchley ~ he smiled!

THE VINE is out today, with the whole of the back page full of pics of our Seniors’ party. Is it a slow-news month or are our senior parishioners particularly photogenic!?!

STATIONS OF THE CROSS ~ Fridays during Lent, 2 pm at All Saints.

NO CONFESSIONS this Saturday.

CALL UP THE GROUPS! To raise money for a good cause (CAFOD), Maggie Osgathorpe has thrown down the gauntlet and organised a quiz night, between all the parish groups and individuals. It would be great if every organisation within the parish could muster a team, along with individuals too whom we could team up. All for a bit of fun and to encourage us all to get together.
