Newsletter: 22nd April 2012

THANK YOU for your Easter offering. Fr Michael and Fr Joseph are very grateful for your generosity on Easter Sunday which amounted to £3,715, that’s £1,857.50p each. As you know, your offering at Christmas and Easter make-up the largest portion of a priest’s annual income … so   “Thank you very much indeed!”

FR MICHAEL Heads Off on his Sabbatical on Monday. After 22 years in the thick of his ministry in busy parishes, Bishop Peter has granted him three months leave-of-absence. The word “Sabbatical” comes from the same root as the word “Sabbath”, meaning an opportunity to recreate. His time away begins in Dublin, on a course entitled “Water Your Roots” and continues with a month of silence and then a relaxing time on board a ship bound for Spitsbergen, where the polar bears live (the perfect place to ‘chill out’!). With plenty of time for prayer, Fr Michael promises to remember you where it matters most and asks for your prayers too.

MEANWHILE, Back at the Ranch, Fr Joseph, Rev Noel, the Parish Team with the support of our helpful parishioners, will lead the parish from strength to strength. Fr Mark is still holding the fort at Winslow.

CAFOD NEWS. This week we raised £83: coffee £23, raffle £15 and collection box £45. Many thanks to all.

SECOND COLLECTION next Sunday for the Priests’ Training Fund (unless you are contributing to Together In Faith).

DURING the 11 o’clock Mass next Sunday, the baptism will take place of Abigail Maria Jacob Pereira.

MAY THEY REST IN PEACE
Georgette Purcell, aged 87 years, late of The Lindens, whose funeral is on Monday 12.15 pm at St Thomas Aquinas. Georgette has been a staunch member of our parish since the days before we had either of our current churches and Mass was celebrated in the converted house in Church Street, Fenny Stratford.

Douglas Tanswell, aged 71 years, late of Chepstow Drive. Dougie has been a Eucharistic Minister in the hospital and at the 6.30 pm Mass for many years and a well-loved member of our parish. His funeral Mass is on Monday 30th April, 11 am at All Saints.

BAPTISM PREPARATION. Do you have a baby for baptism? Congratulations! Please attend the meeting on Thursday 26th 8 pm – 9 pm at St Thomas Aquinas Meeting Room to find out our procedures. Remember, it is an expectation that every family who approaches us for baptism is attending Mass in Bletchley. Also, if you are not known to us, or your child is aged two years of over, we require evidence of the Catholic baptism of at least one parent.Thank You.

CRB CHECKS. Marie Day is doing stirling work renewing all the checks for the dozens of Eucharistic Ministers or those who work for the parish with children or vulnerable adults. Please contact Marie, if she has not already contacted you. Marie’s phone number is always on the newsletter and her email is Marie_day2003@yahoo.co.uk We all owe Marie a debt of thanks for her hard work in this sensitive area, where the church needs to be seen as a beacon of good practice.

May God Bless Us All

Fr Michael
