Newsletter: 17th February 2013

Midweek Mass Watch Mass changes:  Friday’s 8.30 changes to 11.30 am.  Extra Mass, 10 am Saturday at All Saints.  Otherwise there are no changes to the usual schedule.

MAY THEY REST IN PEACE
Antonio Folgerheiter, aged 80 years, late of Westfield Road, whose funeral arrangements are not presently known.
Richard Whelan, aged 74 years, late of Caton House, whose Requiem Mass is on Thursday, 10 am at St Thomas Aquinas.

NO CONFIRMATION classes this week (half term).  Our thanks to all who organised the highly enjoyable away-day at Thornton last weekend for our candidates, along with youngsters from St Mary’s Parish, Woburn Sands (a sign of our new Pastoral area working together).

POPE BENEDICT XVI.  We wish our Pope well after his courageous unexpected decision to accept his state of health and unselfishly stand down to make way for a younger man in better health to fulfil the demands of the role.  Those of us from the parish who attended the wonderful Papal Mass in Birmingham will never forget the day we met “Peter”.  Bishop Peter invites all clergy and people to Mass in our Northampton Cathedral at 7 pm on Thursday 28th February to give thanks for Pope Benedict the Teacher, to ask God’s blessing and to mark this solemn moment in the life of the Church.

WEDDING COUPLES 2013.  If you are getting married in one of our churches in 2013 – congratulations!  Please attend the meeting on Thursday 8 pm at St Thomas Aquinas Meeting Room, at which all will be explained.

WOMEN’s WORLD DAY OF PRAYERAdvance Notice.  Next Friday, 1st March, we host this ecumenical event, 10.30 am at St Thomas Aquinas Church.  It would be nice to see lots of Catholics there (here), so please put the date in your diary.

ONE HUNDRED NOT OUT!  Next Sunday parishioner Grayham Heath of Bletchley House reaches his 100th birthday.  You may know Grayham, as the gentleman in the wheelchair at 9 am Sunday Mass.  Many congratulations to him as he joins Lily (also of Bletchley House) as our second centenarian.

FR MICHAEL will be away for three days this week, having been appointed by Bishop Peter to represent our Diocese on a Conference in Walsingham on the important subject of Safeguarding.  I am sure Walsingham will be bracing at this time of year!

40 DAYS FOR LIFE.  Andy Burton would welcome volunteers to spend 40 Days of Lent to pray and fast for an end to abortion and/or to stand and pray outside BPAS, Acorn House, CMK.   For more info ajlburton@gmail.com or tel. 07765 884791.
