REFLECTIVE THOUGHTS We are coming through a very difficult time in our parish, having had so many funerals. Many much-loved parishioners of longstanding have entered the next life in recent weeks and we miss them all. Whilst it is a great privilege to give such faithful people back to God at the end of a long life of faithful service, it takes its toll on so many of us emotionally. Meanwhile recent weeks have heightened awareness of one of the charisms of our parish, which is the well-structured visiting of house-bound parishioners and those in our Care Homes and Hospitals. Under our Parish Visit Co-ordinator, Eileen, many dozens of parishioners are visited by our parish groups such as Legion of Mary, St Vincent de Paul and many individual visitors. I would like to thank everyone who ministers in this way as it is a great service to parishioners. As Blessed Mother Teresa wrote: ‘The world today is hungry not only for bread but hungry for love; hungry to be wanted, to be loved. They’re hungry to feel that present of Christ’.
