Newsletter: 2nd June 2013

WALSINGHAM PILGRIMAGE this Saturday.
The coach departs All Saints Church at 8 am on 8th June, returning circa 8 pm, as we join Bishop Peter and clergy and people from around our Diocese at medieval Walsingham, the National Shrine of Our Lady in rural Norfolk. A list of those booked on the coach is on the notice board. Please check with the Parish Secretary, Jo, for late availability of places at £14. each; as we go to press we have a few spare seats but hurry to avoid disappointment.

LAST WEEK’s Second Collection for the Church’s work in the Media: £530.17p. Thank You.

PHOENIX. Our Youth Group meets on Tuesday for all year 8’s and over, including those who magically became year 8’s over half-term. 7-9 pm at St Thomas Aquinas Meeting Room. Please bring your £2 subs for pizza and Tizer (other brands of fizzy drinks are available)!

LAST WEEK’s Parish Offertory Collection was £1114.22p. With the new counting procedures in place (causing a headache or two for our counters) we can now break down how our offertory is compiled. For example: of last week’s collection of £1114.22p St Thomas Aquinas congregation gave £301.41p: £152.20p in loose change and £149.21p via envelopes. The All Saints congregation gave £812.81p of which £371.56p was in loose change and £441.25p was via envelopes.
The new Diocesan Accounting Procedures ask us to keep these more detailed figures because the HMRC will now allow us to claim Gift Aid on loose change (up to £1,000 per church per annum) as long as we keep more detailed records. Having two churches makes things more complicated but it is worth it.
