RECEIVING HOLY COMMUNION
Catholics in England and Wales can receive the Sacred Host either in the hands or directly on the tongue.  It is the responsibility of the priest to ensure that the Host has been consumed by the communicant.  If you receive the Host in your hands say “Amen” out loud and then place the Host directly in your mouth while in front of the priest:  please do not walk away with the Host.  Intinction, that is, dipping the Host in the Chalice is not permitted.  It is customary to bow your head as a sign of reverence before receiving the Host and the Chalice.  When receiving the Precious Blood from the Chalice, the communicant must say “Amen” out loud before drinking from the cup.  Above all, we receive our Lord’s Body and Blood prayerfully and carefully.  It is the high point of our day and we owe it the dignity and respect it rightfully deserves.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE PART OF A JUSTICE AND PEACE GROUP? Fr Christopher is seeking to form a group that will consider promoting and raising awareness of issues of Justice and Peace in the Parish.   It is hoped that this will provide a unified and collective approach to the many issues we face.  Please contact Mrs Maggie Osgathorpe (01908 502062) if  you are interested.

CELEBRATION 14 22 ~ 25 August Thornton Convent
A residential weekend for committed Catholic young people  of secondary school age.Application Forms available on request from the Parish Office

CHILDREN’s LITURGYIf your child has made their 3rd birthday and is confident enough to join the group without the need of a parent being present, then they are very welcome to join the Children’s Liturgy during Mass.  Parents are encouraged to stay to help their child ‘settle in’ for the first two occasions but after that your child should be able to be left under the supervision of our Parish Catechists.  Children who are preparing for First Holy Communion need to stay for the whole Mass in Church as this is an important part of their preparation.

NOISE AND DISRUPTION DURING MASS We aim and hope to be a ‘child friendly’ parish where children are especially welcome.  Yet as a courtesy to others, please do not feel embarrassed about having to take your child outside or into the meeting room for a few minutes, if they are particularly noisy.  Thank you for your understamding.

REQUEST Are you good at creating booklets and leaflets using a home computer?  Could you spare some time on a small project to create a prayer booklet for the housebound?  If so, can you email the Parish Office with your contact details as your help would be greatly appreciated.

With every Blessing for the week ahead

Father Christopher Perry

USE OF THE TOILET DURING MASS (All Saints Church) The toilet in All Saints Church should not be frequented during Mass unless it is an emergency.  The constant traffic to and from the toilet is very disruptive to the liturgy particularly during the most solemn and important parts of the Mass.  If you do need to use the toilet, during Mass, please make your way there quietly and at an appropriate moment.  Thank You.
