REFURBISHMENT OF

ST THOMAS AQUINAS CHURCH

St Thomas Aquinas Church will close on Monday 18th August and is expected to re-open in mid-October.  The works will include the installation of a new electrical and fire safety system, full re-decoration including new carpets and new chairs.

Please be aware that the Church must not be entered for any reason due to safety considerations.

It should all look very impressive when it is finished!

CHAIRS FOR SALE

3 – 4 PM TODAY

ST THOMAS AQUINAS CHURCH

The chairs at St Thomas Aquinas Church have served us very well since the Church was built.  We feel, however, that with the refurbishment of the Church now is the time to purchase new ones which will hopefully provide a little more comfort.  We need, therefore, to find new homes for the old chairs.  If you would like to purchase an old chair then they will be on sale for £10. (first come first served).  If this time is not convenient please speak to Fr Christopher to arrange an alternative collection time.

PARISH OFFICE CLOSED

18th August – 1st September

Jo, our Parish Secretary, will be on annual leave for the next two weeks.  Fr Christopher and Fr Clement are, of course, still available in case of emergency or a pressing enquiry.  Eileen will be in on Thursdays for Mass intentions etc.

SECOND COLLECTION NEXT WEEKEND

for GAZA and

PERSECUTED CHRISTIANS IN IRAQ

The temporary ceasefire in Gaza is giving much needed space to deliver food, water, emergency supplies and medical care to people in desperate need.

CAFOD have launched an appeal for donations.

IRAQI Christians are being persecuted, suffering abhorrent atrocities.

AID to the Church in Need are appealing for donations to help with work ‘on the ground’ in Iraq.

CHURCHES TOGETHER IN BLETCHLEY

This month’s event is today and will feature the MK Poet Laureate, Mark Niel.  Venue:  Starbucks Café at Bletchley Leisure Centre.  Entrance free.  Doors open 7 pm with music from 7.30 pm.

CAFOD PETITION ~ GAZA

There is a Petition at the back of Church which calls upon the UK Government to do more to stop the violence and build a lasting peace in Gaza.  Specifically it asks the UK to push for a lasting and comprehensive ceasefire by all parties and humanitarian access to the Gaza strip AND to work with the Israeli and Palestinian Authorities to agree long-term measures to end the suffering and deal with the root causes of the conflict, including an end to the occupation of Palestinian territory, to the building of settlements and to the closure of Gaza.

DO YOU WANT TO BECOME A CATHOLIC?

With every blessing

for the week ahead

ENVELOPES READY FOR COLLECTION

If you make your offering to the Church using the envelope system, then your new envelopes are ready for collection.  They will be available at St Thomas Aquinas Church today and from next Sunday at  All Saints.  This year most people will have been allocated a “new envelope number” this is because we were ordering over 400 boxes of envelopes but only half were being distributed.  We have now been able to save a great deal of money by cutting the number down and re-allocating new numbers.  If for some reason you can’t find your box of envelopes, marked with your name, then please contact Jo at the Parish Office.
