FIRST SUNDAY IN LENT

PARISH LENT REFLECTION

“The Call, the Journey and the Mission”

In preparation for the Ordinary Synod on the Family in October 2015, when Bishop Peter Doyle and Vincent Cardinal Nichols will represent England and Wales, Pope Francis has asked us all to reflect with ‘true spiritual discernment’ on themes relating to marriage and family life.  Such spiritual reflection is truly for all people:  single, married, widowed and divorced.  To aid us in the process of reflection our Bishops have published ‘The Call, the Journey and the Mission’ in which we are presented with Holy Scripture passages and quotes from Pope Francis:   these leaflets will be made available next weekend with the Newsletter.  We shall then come together for a number of ‘Open Parish Meetings’ (chaired by Fr Wayne Coughlin) in which we shall be able to reflect further on these texts and prepare a submission to the Bishops.  The dates of these meetings will be published next weekend.

EXCITING NEWS!

We are pleased to announce the launch of our new charity Sepo, meaning hope, which is supporting the work of the Comboni Missionary Sisters in Mongu, Western Province, Zambia.  Sepo will work closely between our Parish and the Combini Missionary Sisters.  Our Lenten Appeal 2015 will raise money to help empower women through entrepreneurship and literacy programmes at the brand new Women’s Skill Centre, Mongu and in surrounding villages.
