FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT
THE YEAR OF MERCY
8th December 2015– November 20th 2016
Inaugurated by Pope Francis
There will be a special Mass at Northampton Cathedral 7 pm Tuesday 8th December at which Bishop Peter will open a Holy Door to mark the beginning of the Year of Mercy. All are encouraged to attend.
The Holy Father grants a Plenary Indulgence (remission from the temporal punishments due to sin) to anyone who, in a state of grace, passes thorough the Holy Door during the year.
DIVINE MERCY ROSARY PRAYER GROUP
In keeping with Pope Francis’ declaration of the coming Year of Mercy, there will be a Divine Mercy Rosary Prayer Group to recite the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet after Thursday 10 am Mass at All Saints Church. Please do come and join us and feel free to place your petitions in front of the Divine Mercy image.
NEW STATUES FOR THE YEAR OF MERCY
Two statues have been kindly donated to All Saints Church for the “Year of Mercy” which begins on 8th December. St Thomas More and St John Fisher now flank the image of the Divine Mercy to the right of the Altar at All Saints Church. These two English Saints from the time of the Reformation showed great trust in the mercy of God and devoted themselves to His service for which they laid down their lives. During the “Year of Mercy” we will reflect on their contribution to the life of the Church and how they exemplified God’s loving mercy in their own lives.
