INDONESIA EARTHQUAKE AND TSUNAMI
– what are we doing? CAFOD has joined forces with the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) to reach tens of thousands of people affected by Indonesia’s devastating tsunami. More than 1,500 people have been killed and thousands of homes have been destroyed after a 7.5 magnitude earthquake, which triggered a tsunami, struck Central Sulawesi Province, Indonesia, on Friday 28 September. Our Caritas aid workers on the ground have a wealth of experience responding to this type of disaster and are already present in two dioceses near the affected area – Makassar in South Sulawesi and Manado in North Sulawesi. They are being supported by our sister agency Catholic Relief Service (CRS) who are already addressing the immediate needs of survivors, with clean drinking water and food, shelter – tents tarpaulin, and blankets – medical and health services, alongside solar and fuel oil, due to fuel shortages. Please help our brothers and sisters in Indonesia who have lost everything – there are CAFOD donation boxes at both churches or at http://www.cafod.org.uk/donations.

We will be holding this year’s Christmas Fayre at Bishop Parker School on Saturday 24th November. This will be the Parish’s main fund raising event and is always well supported. Why not come along & see the improvements that have been made to the school. Also ample parking has been agreed with the local businesses on Barton Road, so there will be no issues with parking. As usual we will be seeking donations and will provide a timetable for items to be donated in the next few weeks. If you are interested in helping out, or have any new ideas that we could incorporate, please contact the Parish office or Mags Holloway on 07886196804.
SPUC CAMPAIGN – Postcards to your MP!
Please send a SPUC postcard (available at the back of Church) to your MP (Iain Stewart MK South) to ask him to vote against Diana Johnson’s Ten-Minute Bill on Tuesday 23rd October.
