FR BENEDETTO’S LEAVING MASS will be celebrated at All Saints Church on Thursday on 29th August at 7:00pm, followed by a Reception at the Irish Centre (Pavilion, Manor Field, Bletchley, MK2 2HX). Fr Benedetto invites everyone to attend as he bids farewell to the Parish.
BLESSED JOHN HENRY NEWMAN:
Rome 13th October 2019
When Newman was created cardinal on 12 May 1879 by Pope Leo XIII, he took as his motto in Latin “Cor ad cor loquitur”, which means “Heart speaks to heart.” This mirrors Newman’s commitment to education, to establishing Catholic universities and his passionate care for the sick and the poor. When Pope Benedict XVI beatified Newman on 19 September 2010, he praised his pastoral zeal for the poor and the bereaved and noted Newman’s emphasis on the vital role of establishing Catholic ministry in universities. We ask for his intercession for all those engaged in Catholic education not least the teachers, staff and governors of our Catholic Schools in Milton Keynes, and for those who bring relief help and support to the poor and vulnerable in our community, particularly for members of the SVP.
This is the second in a series of articles about John Henry Newman before his canonisation on 13 October 2019.
