Volunteering Information

Our Parish has a strong tradition of supporting others through the work of volunteer groups. We are very grateful to those that volunteer within the parish, their work provides so many opportunities to learn and socialise, as well as bringing comfort to vulnerable parishioners.

Volunteering does, however, come with responsibilities, such as alerting, either, Marie or Andrew, or Father Gerard to any concerns. This can be confidential, but we cannot promise that it will remain so, depending on the issue being raised.

There are also expected behaviours that include respecting the needs of those you are visiting or assisting and respecting boundaries.

Currently the parish enjoys support through the following approved groups:

Children’s Liturgy

Confirmation Group

Hospital Visitors

Parish Visitors

Legion of Mary

Altar Servers

Youth Group

If you are interested in volunteering for any of the groups, please contact Jo in the parish office, who can put you in touch with the group leader.

Every member of any approved parish volunteer group requires an up to date DBS check, which can be obtained through the Safeguarding Reps, Marie and Andrew.

No individual is permitted to volunteer in the parish without clearance from the Safeguarding Representatives.

Please note that the safeguarding reps are volunteers too, so will attempt to make contact with you once, and will follow up one more time, but if you fail to respond you will not be able to volunteer.

When meetings are arranged to complete the DBS process, if you are unable to attend the agreed meeting please let Marie or Andrew know in good time.
